January: GEOFF DAY
You may recognize Geoff, as he has worked with our agency for many years in various temporary assignments which always result in good feedback so we thought it only fitting to award him the first of our Temporary Worker of the Month awards in 2016. Thank you Geoff!!!
We are always looking for recommendations for our TOTM awards so if you feel one of our temporary workers deserves recognition for their commitment and efforts, please let us know. The prize is 13 weeks’ worth of Isle of Wight Lottery tickets the proceeds from which go back into the community, via business grants, to help create jobs on our Island.
EMPLOYMENT LAW UPDATE…
THE LIVING WAGE
From 1st April2016 the new hourly National Minimum Wage rates increase for those workers aged 25 years and over to £7.20
(The government states that this rate is due to rise to £9.00 per hour by 2020).
For those workers aged under 25 the existing Minimum Wage applies:
21 – 24 £6.70
18 – 20 £5.30
Under 18 £3.87
Apprenticeship £3.30 (for people over 25 years this rate applies for the first year only)
The increases have a knock on effect on not only employer NI Contributions and Holiday Pay but also auto enrolment pension contributions.
PENSIONS Automatic Re-Enrolment
Three years after a company’s auto-enrolment staging date they will be required to re-enrol all eligible workers who ‘opted out’, ceased membership or reduced their contributions below the minimum level, more than 12 months prior to their re-enrolment date and complete a re-declaration of compliance.
Further information on re-enrolment can be found at: www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/re-enrolment
