Industry: Civil Engineering
Location: Isle of Wight
Hours: 40 hours per week
Days: Monday - Friday
Actively involved in supplier selection, performance management and development.
Tasks to include:
Prepare, issue and review invitations to bid for works.
Negotiation with Supply Chain Partners, procuring the most competitive rates without compromising on quality.
Convert purchase requisitions into Purchase Orders for Materials, PPE, Tools, Plant Hire, Professional Services and ICT. Issue to suppliers.
Check costings and ensuring Group and Local Pricing Agreements are adhered to.
Manage Purchase Order monthly contract reports.
Proactively report materials availability, highlighting availability issues and implementing corrective actions.
Organising Hiring and Off Hiring of plant and tools, maintaining hire registers.
Ensure adherence to the Procurement Process, maintaining financial governance throughout.
Working closely with finance team to resolve invoice queries.
Must have a minimum of three years recent experience within a procurement role including dealing with vendors and sub-contractors.
Must have either direct or indirect sourcing of materials and plant hire within the civil engineering/ highways or construction sectors. (procurement experience from other industry sectors may be considered dependent upon qualifications and experience)
A relevant degree qualification/ CIPS level 4 qualification or equivalent is preferred, however lower level purchasing qualifications (or qualification by experience) may be considered.
Must have a high level of computer literacy including MS Excel. Previous experience of SAP is an advantage.
Must have excellent communication, influence and negotiation skills.
Must have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise workload, to deadlines.
Must be resourceful and be able to work on own initiative with sound judgement.
Salary: £27 - 30,000 per annum dependent upon experience
